DTF Printing: Designing the Future, One Film at a Time
Posted on: 15 September 2023
Introduction
In the world of digital printing, there’s a new acronym that’s got everyone talking: DTF. But before your imagination runs wild, we’re talking about Direct To Film printing, not what you might be thinking. This innovative technique is transforming the way we bring designs to life on various surfaces, and it’s doing so with a blend of formality and playfulness that’s hard to resist. This is the main printing method we use and it’s gotten a plentiful amount of stellar reviews from our customers.
DTF in Action
Imagine this: You have a brilliant design in your mind, and you want to see it come to life on a T-shirt, a canvas, or even a hat. In the past, this would have required complex setups and various techniques. With DTF, it’s as easy as 1-2-3:
- Prepare Your Design: Whether it’s a striking logo, a colourful artwork, or a personalised message, create or select the design you want to bring into the world. We use the software CorelDraw for all our design purposes.
- Print the Film: Load your chosen film into the DTF printer, ours is an Epson F2100, which takes up a whole corner of a room! The printer, equipped with specialised ink, applies your design directly onto the film. It’s like watching a painter at work, except this painter is precise, fast, and available at your convenience.
- Transfer and Cure: Once your design is on the film, it’s time to transfer it to your desired surface. A heat press is used to bond the design from the film to your chosen material. The result is a vibrant, durable print that’ll last, in most cases, the lifetime of the garment!
The Playful Perks of DTF Printing
- Limitless Creativity: DTF printing is your ticket to a realm of boundless creativity. You can print intricate details, gradients, and vibrant colours that were once unattainable through traditional methods. When you compare DTF printing and Embroidery side by side, you’ll see how blurry & bland embroidery looks.
- Colour Popping Brilliance: DTF printing offers a striking colour spectrum that brings your designs to life in a way that’s hard to achieve with other techniques. Your prints will stand out, whether they’re on fabric, paper, or even hard surfaces.
- Durable and Long-Lasting: Thanks to the curing process, DTF prints are built to last. They’re resistant to fading, cracking, and peeling, ensuring your creations remain as sharp and vibrant as the day they were printed.
- Eco-Friendly Innovation: Many DTF inks are eco-friendly, making them a responsible choice for those who want to minimize their environmental footprint while enjoying the vibrant world of digital printing.
Conclusion
We’ve been using DTF printing for quite a few years now. We have experience with embroidery & vinyl prints too and ten times out of ten, we choose DTF. It’s cost-efficient, it’s easy and it looks beautiful – what’s not to love?
